"300" is another film showing that established comics can mean serious profitability if they can be transferred to the big screen. Having grossed over $400 million US dollars at the box office including $8 million USD from Australia for a total
production budget of $65 million, it is clear that something is piqueing the interest of cinema goers.

What exactly that "something" is of course is open to debate.

The film itself is a dark portrait of an epic battle that actually took place. "300" sets itself apart from its predecessors
such as "Gladiator" and even "Braveheart" because probably 75% of what you see on screen is created on a computer.
This has the impact of giving some of the violence a comic feel however the images are still graphic and definitely
not suitable for children.

Impressive special effects but character depth is lacking. 7/10.
